Anushka Sharma is one of the finest Bollywood actress today. Born on May 1 1988 to Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Anushka comes from an army background. She completed her education from an army school and later on went on to pursue arts from Mount Carmel College. Her dream to make it big into the modelling world came true when she walked the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week. In 2007, she made her dream start in Bollywood when she was cast opposite Shahrukh Khan in Aditya Chopras Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi for which she won rave reviews from the critics and media. She also won her first Filmfare for the Best Debut Actress in 2008 for the film. Her next three films were produced under the Yash Raj Banner. The first one was Badmaash Company opposite Shahid Kapoor and the third and fourth were Band Baaja Baarat and Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl opposite Ranveer Singh. Out of the three, Band Baaja Baarat was her biggest hit with Anushka getting critical appreciation for her role of a Delhi tom boy, a role she said was one of the toughest roles of her life so far.
In 2011, Anushka starred in Patiala House with Akshay Kumar. Although the movie received a lukewarm response, Anushka was complemented by the critics for her acting. In 2012, she was paired for the second time with Shahrukh Khan for Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The movie also starred Katrina Kaif and became one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Once again, her acting skills were praised and critics suggested that she should start looking for meatier roles now, as she has established herself as actress. As of January 2013, Anushka Sharma is waiting for the launch of Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, which is a dark comedy. For the first time in her career she has been cast opposite Imran Khan, who plays the main lead in the film. Her future venture’s include Rajkumar Hirani’s Peekay opposite Aamir Khan and Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
